It was dark when we arrived in Memphis, but as you can
see that Blaine, even after a hard day's work and Rocket ,
after a long ride were glad to finally meet each other.  I
was as glad to finally put a face with Blaine for we had
visited so much via email, we felt like old friends and now
we are!  Read how smart Rocket is- just like his Pop!
Next day, we said good bye to Katie Joy and hello to
our new friends, Sue and John in Florida.  Sue had
packed a goody bag for the weary travelers. Only thing
wrong, we did not get our 'talk out', as we say in
Arkansas. Next time, maybe? Sue planned a Puppy
Tea for all her friends who had "well trained" dogs to
meet Katie Joy! She is one hospitable lady!!!!
Before we left on our trip, Hollie went to live in Northwest Arkansas with  Cathy and Marvin,
Charlotte, above, and Katie! Cathy's letter is so informative about teething, spaying and having
fun with your Westie!  You can also see
how well your West Highland White Terrier will  get
along with other dogs
. All of Cathy's dogs are females!!!!!
Happy Owners of Mums' Lil Westies!

Why I Love  my Mums' Lil Westies!
A Tribute to Our New Parents!
loving and healthy. loving and healthy. We
were blessed that our first litter achieved our
goals. They have been such a joy to raise for
you. We've loved them as our very own and as
we get ready to let them go to their new homes,
it is with thankful hearts that we have visited
with you frequently since their birth.  We feel
we have gotten to know each of you, your love
for Westies, and your desire to provide the same
loving, nurturing environment for your very
own lil Westie. Thank you from the bottom of
our hearts!  You will always be a part of our
family of Westies! We remain committed to
you as you love, play and enjoy your lil Westie

"Every Family Needs a Westie
and
A Mums To Let You Have One!"
Thank you for your promise to love them
forever,   Mums
ps I am including some of your comments that
might help others enjoy their Westie as they
have.

We are so happy that we obtained our
Westie puppy, Regis II, from you folks.  As
he nears his 12-week birthday, Regis is
doing great, and we are enjoying him so
much.  Obviously, he had much love and
attention from  you folks during his very
important early weeks, and that was so
important to us in selection Mum's Lil
Westies at the Ross Family Farm, as the
breeder who would provide us with a
healthy and happy puppy.  We both love
Westies and know from years of
experience that one could not have a
better dog to become a family member.

Some of the things we did to prepare to
receive LiL Regis II are as follows:

l.  We purchased a small wire, 8-section
pen at Petsmart, that folds flat for moving.
A cotton blanket in the bottom of the pen
keeps Regis comfortable in his own space
and out of trouble in the remainder of the
house.
2. We have a  small travel crate for Regis,
and keep a small washable towel inside.
We feed Regis 3-times a day in the crate,
to get him accustomed, happy, and secure
to being in the crate.
3. We keep a small harness on Regis, as a
neck collar can cause injury to young pets.
4. We are continuing with the puppy food
recommend by Mum's Lil Westies.  The
Regis puppy is an eager eater. We use
stainless steel food and water bowls.
5. Puppy pads have worked great for us
with our two previous Westies.  The pads
are treated and encourage puppies to "do
their business" on the pads. Keep two
pads in the wire pen.  Regis II has already
learned that the pad is the area for him to
relieve himself, in and out of the pen.
When we let him out of the pen, there is a
pad available for him and he finds it.
6. We have several puppy toys for him to
chew, nylabone flexible.  He also loves toys
that squeak.
7.  Regis II loves to walk with us and our
9-year old Westie, Kathy Lee. He can
already hold his own at 12-week of age in
his romps with Kathy Lee.
8.  We travel frequently in a motorhome.
Often we are asked about our Westies.
One of the books we recommend to those
new to the Westie breed is:  "West
Highland White Terriers" by Ingrid
Bolle-Kleinbub. Another good book is
Dawn Martin's book, "West Highland White
Terriers".  In one of these books, the
author writes, that the only thing better
than having one Westie is having two come
into your family and life.  Two dogs about
the same age are great company and
companions for each other.

Do you want something like a "testimonial" about how
what a "rotten little dog" oh - er - I mean what a "little
sweetheart" Hollie is?

I really like the "new" website!  I love to see all the
babies and can't believe how fast little Hollie-Belle
has grown.  As you know, she was 5 months old
yesterday.  She's a little over 11 lbs. now.  Her "big girl
teeth" are coming in and most of her baby teeth have
come out.  Her canine teeth, top and bottom, have
not come out and the adult teeth are coming in
behind.  She goes to be spayed on Tuesday and
"Doc" will have to take the baby canines out at the
same time.  I'm sure they are bothering her - she
doesn't finish her meals and is constantly rubbing and
scratching at her mouth.

I can't say we are 100% house-broken but we are
close.  We still have "accidents" when it's cold, dark,
rainy, or when it just doesn't fit in with what she's
doing at the time.

We are puppy-sitting my mother's little mini doxie,
Jamie, (3 yrs. old).  She and Hollie are "best buds".
They are in constant motion!  If their eyes are open,
they are running and wrestling.  When Jamie isn't
here, Hollie terrorizes Charlotte !

We laughed so hard the other night - I hope it
translates to paper.  Hollie is brave - from a distance!
She'll go out and bark with Katie but when she thinks
there's really something to bark about, she runs into
the house.  She'll sit in front of the sunroom windows
and go "boof", "boof", "boof".  Not a real bark, just
"boof".  That night, she thought there was something
to bark about and she started "boof", "boof", "boof".
Then she did a perfect "moon-walk" backwards across
the sunroom, through the door and into the kitchen -
with a "boof" with every step.  It was the funniest thing
we've ever seen!  Makes you wish for a video camera.

The other thing she does is her "meal-time dance".
Charlotte is a Jack Russell and can really jump when
she wants to - like when she wants to see what's in her
food bowl on the kitchen counter.  Charlotte can jump
straight up and take things off the counter.  Anyway,
Hollie is trying to jump like Charlotte - she thinks if
Charlotte can do it, she can too.  Unfortunately, she's
not made to jump straight up like that.  So her
"meal-time dance" is jumping up, "rebounding" off
the kitchen cabinet, turning around, jumping up,
"rebounding" off the opposite kitchen cabinet and
back again.  Then she'll stop to see if I have her food
ready.  If not, she'll do her dance again.  I take my
time just to see her "dance".

Oh, I don't know if I told you - her favorite "toy" is an
ice cube!  We spend all this money on new toys - we
have a room full - and all she wants is an ice cube!
She stops what she's doing and comes running
everytime she hears the ice dispenser!  Then she'll
take her ice cube and play with it until it's gone!

Just let me know what we can send you for your
website.  Hollie is really a wonderful little girl!

On to Georgia for a welcome home party
for Max Blueberry with Joey, Julia and Rita
and a good home cooked meal for the
Rosses.  Max was immediately taken with
all his toys and beautiful new home. Here is
a letter from Rita who wanted her 6yr old to
like puppies. Some of you ask
how
Westies get along with cats
, read her story!

Max is great - he and Julia are like brother and sister
now.  When she is in the tub (she's 6 so she still has
tub toys) he wants her toys
so bad - he finally went and got one of his and brought
it back and traded with her.  He's so smart.  He doesn't
bark much and from the start when he thinks it's time to
go to bed he goes and lays down in his cage.  The only
time I close the door is at night and if I have to go
somewhere, he's still a puppy so we try to keep him
safe.  He really hasn't been bad in the house - we took
him out from the start to the potty - now he sits by the
door and barks when he has to go.  The cats are okay
with him now, they don't sleep with him yet but they are
getting closer to it.  He hasn't been bad to chew
furniture or things like that - I buy him the pigs ears -
they take alot of time for him to chew.
Our philosophy on animals is to treat them like we do
our kid - which means we love them and take care of
them, but we do say no and they all know what no
means.  The lady that came out to train us when Max
was a puppy said to never say no to them -
I feel like we got some good info from her but that
wasn't one of them.  If you love someone saying no
sometimes is for their own good.
He is a real momma's boy, but he has alot of fun with
Julia now.  He has really helped her with all dogs - she
seems to really like them now.  We haven't moved yet -
we do have our house for sale - we are praying for it to
sell.  We thought that it would be wise to sell first then
start building.  I will try to grab Joey's camera and make
some pictures for you.
The other day I took Max to my friend who owns the
grooming shop - he was nice and clean and when we
got home the 2 labs from next door came to see us - it
was like all three conspired to get Max as dirty as they
could.  He really gets along well with all the dogs he
comes into contact with.  The advice the lady gave us
about exposing him to as many new things as possible
before he was 20 weeks old was about the best advice
she gave us, he's not as yappy.  She calls it the puppy's
rule of twelve.  I will make you a copy and mail it to you.

If you need more info let me know - we are really
enjoying Max.        Rita in GA
Here's what I would say to anyone considering buying a
puppy from Mums:

If you want a Westie bred by  a loving, responsible and
ethical breeder, Mums Lil Westies is where you want to
go.  Mums' puppies are loved and cared for, healthy and
well-socialized when they go to their "forever" homes.  It's
great fun to keep up with your puppy's progress on the
Mums web site as we did with our Rocket from the day
he was born.  Mums Lil Braveheart Rocket was born in
September 2007 and came to live with us in November
2007.  He has been a delight and an adventure for us
since the day we got him.  He's the smartest puppy we've
ever had, eager to learn, great disposition, and adorable
personality.  He would "sit" and lie "down" on command
within two weeks after we got him and he continues to
eagerly learn other commands.  (He'll do anything for a
treat!)  He has never met a person or another dog who is
a stranger to him, loves to go outside and run, plays
soccer, fetches a ball, and is very creative when he plays.
Of course, he also loves to steal our slippers and "roll"
the living room with toilet paper if we leave the bathroom
door open...but he looks to cute that we just can't get mad
at him...hey, it's our fault for leaving the door opened,
right?

A week later we arrived in Pennsylvania on a cold,
dreary day. The sun was shining in Chaser's heart as
he greeted  Regan and her mommy, Jamie.   We
were warmed immediately with her welcome and
Chaser was a happy boy.   I liked my new "yankee "
friend, too!   For a girl from the south, that is saying
alot. .  This is a picture of Jamie and Chaser ! Chaser
now lives with his mama Katie in Arkansas, so he
would fit into our regal society we renamed him
Prince Charles ( well known  to all as Charlie!)
